Post Malone - Blue Suit

3/16/2025

Picture
Picture
The process was pretty straight forward. While Posty's actual suit was more of a western cut Nudie Cohn, I didn't have the money to get something more accurate or custom made as much as I'd like to. So I settled on a regular blue suit off of Amazon and painted it accordingly. Unfortunately the color of the suit did not match the listing photos so the color isn't quite right but it is what it is.

I bought some of the supplies at Joann's but since they are going out of business it seems pointless to link you to their site. Michael's also carries Tulip fabric paint, I use the soft matte. I have had a lot of success with it not cracking. I couldn't find the actual brand of silver paint I used for the barbed wire, but Tulip has one that looks pretty similar.

I did this in a little bit of a rush, knocked it out over 3 or 4 evenings after work. It looks pretty good but I do think I can do better next time.

Wig - Custom $200
  • Why so expensive? It is lace front and was custom made for me by a theatre wig master in San Diego. She has made all my Posty wigs and my Sweeney Todd.
Shirt - Amazon $19.99
Suit - Amazon $69.99
Belt - Already owned
Shoes - Amazon $59.99
  • I considered stoning a cheaper pair of shoes but time and cost wise it was cheaper to buy these instead and they look really good. I do think I'll stone the heel at some point
Fabric Paint- Amazon $8.99
  • Yellow
  • Brown
  • Black
  • White
  • Silver
Rhinestones-
  • Applicator - I already owned this but this is what it looks like
  • Big ones- These are cheapos from Joann's for around $8 and I don't think they look as good but stoning can get expensive. I do wish I bought nicer ones.
  • Hot Fix- Amazon $12.99
    • Crystal
    • Topaz
    • Citrine

Upgrades-
I plan on adding a lot more stones, I do not consider this look finished, but I wanted it base line done so I could use it and will add more later.

Total $441.89

Vote For Loki

2/9/2025

Wig - Amazon $21.99
Horns - Amazon $21.99
  • These are kinda rubbery, in comparison to the other horns I bought for my Lady Loki burlesque look. These are surprisingly comfortable.
Suit - Amazon $69.58
  • I am a fan of this suit in particular. I have it in several colors. Fits great, comfortable, reasonably priced.
Vest - Amazon $25.99
Tie - Bought at a thrift store for $3
Tie Clip - Amazon $9.99
Vote for Loki Button - Amazon $9.98

Total $159.52

Nanami

2/9/2025

Suit - Amazon $73.85
  • Suits tend to be on the pricey side, you can always try to find one at a thrift store if you do not have a budget for one. These are pretty nice and reasonably priced.

Wig - Amazon $9.99
  • Surprisingly good quality for how cheap it was

Shirt - Amazon $19.99
  • I do prefer women's button up shirts, they tend to fit me better and are more flattering, the only issue is that they are a bit shorter and sometimes do not stay tucked into my pants if I am preforming

Suspenders - Amazon $39.95
  • A little pricey but they are real leather and will hold up

Glasses/Tie - Amazon $22.95

Yellow Glasses - Zenni Optical, already owned
  • These are prescription glasses. Originally ordered with an intention to do a Vash the Stampede cosplay. But they are a part of my regular rotation of glasses. I prefer to cosplay characters with glasses so I don't have to wear contacts. I usually wear these with Nanami rather than the anime actuate ones because they are so dark

Shoes - Walmart $20

Hatchet - Spirit $5
  • This guy was on clearance when Spirit Halloween was closing for the season. Using hot glue and scrap fabric I wrapped the hatchet. Spots painted with fabric paint.

Total $191.73

Sweeney Todd

2/9/2025

Wig - $200
  • This was commissioned from my friend who is a wig master at a Theatre in San Diego. She makes all my Post Malone wigs as well.
  • Why so expensive? It is made specifically for my head. She took a mold of my head so all the wigs fit perfectly, extremely comfortable. It is also lace front.
Jacket - Amazon $38.99
  • Its not super clear in the photos but there is a built in vest on this jacket, I really didn't like it so I cut it off.
Vest - Amazon $29.90
Shirt - Amazon $14.99
  • DO NOT IRON THIS MATERIAL. lol
Gloves - Already owned
Pants - Amazon $29.99
Boots - Already owned
Razor - Amazon $9.99

Total:  $323.86

Alastor

9/27/2024

Believe it or not, I do actually make things from time to time. I cried making this though, not going to lie. I tried so hard to be on schedule with things and well, per usual I was finishing things the night before the con. Haha.

Base items were bought from Amazon for the most part. I hand painted the jacket because, I don't know, I'm crazy. Over all turned out great, just a lot of work that I could have done differently and saved myself a lot of time. But it was a learning experience, I guess.

Breakdown:

Paints -
  • Leather Paint -
  • Amazon $6.99
  • Joann's $9.99
    • This was an item I ended up needing more of. Most of the time Amazon is cheaper but in this case it was not. 1oz for 6.99 ($7 an oz) while a 4oz bottle is 9.99 ($2.50 an oz) at Joann's.
    • Used this on the jacket sleeves.
    • Recommend a base coat of white or lighter color if you are working on black leather, the product is not opaque enough to cover that dark of color without many layers, at least the scarlet red wasn't. Some of the lighter colors might do better. I did end up using the red fabric over the leather paint, it still looked too dark against the black of the shoe.
  • Pink fabric paint - Joann's $7.99
  • Red fabric paint - Joann's $7.99
  • Black fabric paint - Joann's $7.99

Shoes-
  • These were my old Post Malone boots that had lost their heel bottoms, I bought them at Ross years ago. I replaced the grip and painted them with leather paint.
  • Replacement material - Amazon $9.90
  • Shoe Goo- Amazon $6.99
    • This stuff works amazing. I have used it on so many shoes.

Pants - Walmart $15
  • Like everything else, used painters tape to cut a line and used fabric paint

Jacket - Amazon $50
  • The sleeves were painted with leather paint, the other details were fabric paint. I like the color of the leather paint, couldn't find fabric paint in the color I wanted. It did however make the fabric feel kind of like leather. Which was cool but not what I was going for. So the sleeves are a bit stiff.
  • The stripes were a challenge to keep even in thickness and spacing. I used painters tape as a guide but that only gets you so far. Lot of free hand work. I used pink fabric paint for these.

Shirt - Amazon $19.99
  • Taped it off with painters tape and used fabric paint to create the lines

Bow tie - Amazon $5.69
  • Had a hard time finding something perfectly round for the center, I aimed to find a large button but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Did end up using a wood half sphere found in a multipack in the wood craft area of Michaels for about $8, painted it with the same fabric paint to match, top coated it with modge podge.
Wig - Amazon $14.99
  • I had bought a wig that I was going to cut and color, whole thing from scratch. But as mentioned before time became a factor. I ended up buying a premade Amazon wig and restyling. For what it was, honestly, not terrible and ended up looking alright. I would really like to make a new wig or possibly commission a wig maker for the next version.

Gloves - Already owned

Neck Chain- Etsy $20
  • Highly recommend this seller and product. It is made very well and is very affordable.
  • They also make it in pink for Angel Dust / Valentino cosplayers

Microphone - Etsy $161
  • This seller was great, very helpful. It was a bit pricey but a really well made item. About $100 and $50 shipping due to them not being in the US.
  • This item was just the microphone, I did have to buy a wood dowel for the staff, it was about $3 at Joann's and I spray painted it black, glued it in with E6000
  • Unfortunately it looks like they are no longer making this item.
  • I also bought a Lucifer apple staff from them as well, this came with a retractable staff pole.

Total: $352.51 roughly

Cosplay/Drag Jack Sparrow UPGRADES!

9/24/2023

The original costume, found here, was in need of some updates!

Tunic- Amazon $27.25
  • Dye - $5
  • I had been using a tunic I already owned for ren faires, but it wasn't the right color or design. I finally got around to buying a new one. I couldn't find one that was the right color so I bought a white one and dyed it. I used a Tan Rit dye.
  • This item runs VERY BIG. I got a L/XL and this thing was a Scrooge nightgown! Size Down!!!

Wig- 20 inch dreads -Amazon $19.99
  • This wig has gotten a lot of action and was very beat up. I spent about two weeks re-dreading the preexisting locks. I then added some premade locks to change up the color and give it more body.
  • I used Got2B Glued hair spray and steam in the process of re-dreading. Got2B Glued spike gel to seal the ends. Provided are Amazon links, they are much cheaper at Walmart or Target.
  • Steamer example- This is a portable steamer I bought to steam dresses for photoshoots with. I do not recall how much I paid for it. But the example is pretty close. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made when it comes to costumes. If you want to look like a polished cosplayer, iron or steam your outfit before wearing it.

Rings- Amazon $25
  • These were a little pricey for what they are. But buying individual ring replicas would have been more expensive over all. And the quality is pretty solid.

Compass- Amazon $25
  • I plan on painting this and making it more worn looking. But it also looked great as is.

Monkey- Bought the skeleton monkey at WinCo for $10.
  • Spray painted. While it is still wet, rubbed the paint off to leave it stained with dark creases.
  • Glued bits of hair all over it. Hair was bought at Joann's for $6, I used very little of it and bought the smallest packet I could find.
  • Glued his hands and feet together so he would not bend.
  • Glued "Cursed Aztec Gold" ($8) to his hands in such a way where the coin won't rotate and show the non-movie accurate side.
  • Glued magnetic strips on his butt and feet that will attach to strips in my jacket. These I already owned.
Picture
Waist Sash- Joann's $12/yard
  • I bought three yards of the fabric just incase I needed more or wanted to make it longer etc.
  • Finally found a similar fabric, been hunting for it for a while. It is more or less a giant scarf.
  • In the middle I put a panel of Peltex Stabilizer in it. This is a material that comes in different thickness and will give items structure. I picked a middle grade thickness. I wanted it it to keep shape but I didn't need to to be super thick, I just didn't like that my first sash scrunched up so much.
  • I bought a yard of it at $12/yard. I didn't need that much but now I have some on hand for other projects.
Future updates planned:

Boot Cuffs - Joann's $9/yard
  • I bit off more than I could chew when it comes to upgrade right before FanX. I had bought about 2.5/3 yards of faux brown leather to make boot cuffs. Those will have to wait.

Jacket embellishments-
  • In the future I plan to add the embellishments and buttons onto the jacket.

Total spent on upgrades: $201.25

Yikes, quite a hefty upgrade. I spent less than that making the original version. Woof! But dang it looks good.

Drag - Sexy Wizard

9/8/2023

118.96Hat- Amazon $24.99
  • Added chicken bones to the brim to spice it up. I soaked the bones in hot water and scrubbed the cartilage and what not off. Left them to dry in the sun. Used wire wrapped in twine to make a small belt around the base of the hat. Hand stitched the wire to the hat.

Wig and Beard - Amazon $25.99
  • Wig was good as is. The beard I cut a little to make the mouth hole bigger. Not the most comfortable but it did it's job

Belt- Amazon $19.99

Cloak - Amazon $35.99

Potion bottles- Amazon $19.99
  • Filled with blue Power Aid.

Skirt/loin cloth - $4 a yard
  • Bought the fabric at Joann's. I bought more than I needed, 3 yards, just incase I messed it up or needed another layer. Cut out the shapes, picture and upside down flame. Then sewed the top as if I was making a curtain. I slid a regular belt through the panels making a skirt of sorts.

Makeup- Already owned
  • The eyebrows I used Tag face paint, base was grey and used white on top to give it depth. Used hair spray to protect it since Tag is water based it will run if I sweat to hard.
Contacts- Already owned, bought these at a smoke shop of all places.
Boots- Already owned
Cuffs- Already owned
Chest Plate- Already owned

The nice part about most of this stuff is that I can re-use it for Ren Faires.

Hat - Amazon $27.99
  • This was a fantastic purchase. I am so happy with it. So freakin' ridiculous!
  • I did run into a lot of things because of how big it was, got stuck in a tree.
  • I plan on adding rhinestones and roses to the hat
Pants - Amazon $36.95
  • I couldn't find green chaps. So I bought these pants, cut and hemmed them. I highly recommend hemming them if you do this, the material is stretchy and if you don't hem them they will get warped and weird
Jacket - Amazon 34.98
  • Fringe and roses added
Roses - Amazon $8.99
  • I hand sewed these onto the pants and jacket. A lot of work but worth it.
Fringe - Amazon $16.99
  • I cut open the seams of the jacket sleeves and re-sewed them closed with the fringe in between.
  • For the pants I sewed the fringe on behind the seam, the seam was very thick and would be hard to resew. This did however give it a little bit of structure and let the fringe pop out a little.
Underwear - already owned
Nylons - Walmart $3
Boots- already owned
Chest plate - already owned
